The Canadian Open is a tournament that is Open to all chess players. Membership in the Chess Federation of Canada is the only requirement. This year, the Canadian open will be played in 3 sections according to rating. Under 1600 CFC, Under 2000 CFC and Over 1800 CFC (Open section). The Under 1600 and Under 2000 sections will be played in the afternoon while the Open section will be played in the evening, giving the Under sections an opportunity to watch the top players in our country battle with visiting GMs and others.
