2007 The organizing committee of the Kitchener Chess Festival has arranged for a special rate of $89/room/night (up to 4 people) at the Walper Terrace Hotel in downtown Kitchener. This hotel boasts a rich history (maybe you can stay in a room that one of our Prime Ministers has stayed in) and has all the required amenities. On site are a restaurant and a separate pub and so offers good facilities to kick-back after some tough tournament action. The Walper Terrace Hotel is just 2 blocks away from the Festival Headquarters (Kitchener City Hall). We have set aside a limited number of rooms for players and their families. For more information, or to book your reservation, call 1-800-265-8749 and make sure that you mention "Kitchener Chess Festival" in order to get the special rate. The tournament site is also close to many of Kitchener's sites. Just a couple of blocks away is Victoria Park, a beautiful park with pleasant park land and an extensive kids play area. Just a few blocks away is Kitchener's Centre in the Square. Here is where many top shows will perform. Close by is also Kitchener's famous Market. On Saturday mornings you can get lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat products straight from the regions farmer/vendors. A four block walk will get you to the Main Branch of the Kitchener Public Library, indeed an excellent library with lots of facilities itself.
